Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, reported receipts of 1,415 head of sheep and goats Feb. 1, compared to 846 head last week and 704 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Heavy weight slaughter lambs steady, light weights were $3 to $5 higher. Stocker and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were $5 to $7 higher. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 350 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper pairs, few 30.00 to 40.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice, 100 to 150 lbs., 70.00 to 85.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 80 lbs., 115.00 to 126.00, few to 134.00.

Slaughter bucks: few 100 to 150 lbs., 50.00 to 57.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 115.00 to 133.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 115.00 to 126.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 35.00 to 45.00, few light weights 50.00 to 56.00. Billies, few 90 to 125 lbs., 80.00 to 88.00. Muttons, 80 to 120 lbs., 82.00 to 96.00.

Replacement goats: Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 120 lbs., 60.00 to 80.00. Billies, individual 175 lbs., 95.00.
