Dodge City cattle sales report

Dodge City Winter Livestock Inc., Dodge City, Kan., reported receipts of 3,119 head Jan. 30, compared to 2,567 head last week and 3,465 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers at 350 to 700 pounds on a light test were steady to $3 higher, and 700 to 925 pounds were steady to $1 higher. Heifers at 300 to 700 pounds were $2 to $4 higher, and 700 to 850 pounds were $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter cows were $2 to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were $1 to $2 higher. Trade and demand were moderate to good. Receipts included 91% over 600 pounds, 2% under 600 pounds and 7% slaughter cows and bulls with 223 head, early. The feeder supply consisted of 51% steers and 49% heifers.

Medium and large frame 2, 10 head, 1169 lbs., middle-aged, short to solid mouth, second trimester, 660.00; 15 head, 1148 lbs., aged, broken mouth, 560.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, individual 60.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 51.50 to 55.25; high dressing, 56.00 to 57.00; low dressing, 45.50 to 50.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 48.00 to 54.50; high dressing, 55.00 to 57.00; low dressing, 37.50 to 47.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 62.00 to 64.75; high dressing, individual 67.00; low dressing, 50.50 to 59.00.
