Denison feeder cattle sale

The Denison Feeder Cattle Auction, Denison, Iowa, reported receipts of 2,175 head Jan. 31, compared to 2,369 head last week and 2,628 head last year, according to the Iowa Department of Agriculture to USDA Market News, Des Moines, Iowa.

This was a special feeder cattle sale. Compared to last week, the bulk of the feeder cattle trended $1 to $2 higher. Moderate discounts for quality and flesh. Cattle quality was average, buyer demand was good, but somewhat erratic through the course of the sale. Receipts included 55% feeder cattle over 600 pounds, 41% heifers and 59% steers.
