Apache livestock sales report

Stockman's Livestock Inc., Apache, Okla., reported receipts of 3,745 head, compared to 2,882 head last week and 1,394 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $1 to $2 higher, most advance on the 7 weights. Steer and heifer calves were $3 to $5 higher. Weigh-ups were average to full. Demand for all classes of cattle moderate to good. The supply included 60% steers, 38% heifers, and 77% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were $2 to $3 higher than last week's reportedly stronger market. Packer demand continues very good for light numbers. Demand was very good for bred cows. Several Longhorn cross bred cows included and these sold to very good demand as well. A total of 215 cows and bull sold with 45% going to packers.

Medium and large frame 2, 17 head, 599 lbs., 106.00; 9 head, 643 lbs., 100.00; 650 to 699 lbs., 97.50 to 105.00 (99.56); 8 head, 755 lbs., 95.00; 808 to 840 lbs., 94.00 to 95.00 (94.37); 6 head, 894 lbs., 93.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 14 head, 1400 to 2200 lbs., 63.50 to 67.00; high dressing, 69.00; low dressing, 56.00 to 62.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 6 years old, 1075 to 1275 lbs., 7 months bred, average to high blacks, 950.00 to 980.00; 3 to 6 years old, 875 to 1275 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred, average quality, 810.00 to 900.00; 6 years old, 1200 to 1425 lbs., 7 months bred, average to high blacks, 960.00 to 1010.00; 5 to 8 years old, 1000 to 1175 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, Longhorn Cross 665.00 to 740.00; 7 to 10 years old, 925 to 975 lbs., 4 to 5 months bred, Longhorn Cross 475.00; 9 to 10 years old, 1000 to 1150 lbs., 6 to 7 months bred, Longhorn Cross 550.00 to 615.00; 10 years old, 1200 to 1350 lbs., 7 months bred, average quality, 620.00 to 720.00.
