Amarillo livestock sales

The Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 221 head Feb. 5, compared to 612 head last week and 1,133 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, not enough of any class to determine an adequate market price trend comparison. The bulk of he supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate. Feeder cattle accounted for 96% and slaughter cows and bulls 4% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 41% of the run, heifers 59%, with 88% steers and heifers over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 505 lbs., 118.00; package 653 lbs., 103.00, package 655 lb. calves 97.00; lot 745 lbs., 102.00, two package 720 to 786 lb. calves 90.00 to 94.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 322 lbs., 116.00; package 539 lbs., 116.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 92.00 to 100.00; package 708 lbs., 88.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 592 lbs., 100.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 95.00 to 97.50; lot 744 lbs., 93.00, package 798 lbs., 88.00, package 721 lb. calves 87.00; package 815 lbs., 85.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 410 lbs., 106.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 85.00 to 91.00; package 673 lbs., 95.00. Small and medium frame 3 to 4, package 607 lbs., 69.00; 790 to 800 lbs., 55.00 to 60.00; package 881 lbs., 58.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, individual 2085 lbs., 46.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1600 lbs., 51.00 to 53.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 48.00; low dressing, 40.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1900 lbs., individual 65.00.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle aged, 1150 to 1715 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred 760.00 to 890.00 per head; aged, 1250 to 1400 lbs., 7 to 8 months bred 680.00 per head.
