ShorthornPlus Show growing in popularity

ShorthornPlus shows at the North American International Livestock Expo took place for only the second time this year and the entry numbers grew from last year. With 35 head in the Junior Show and 53 head in the Open Show, the composite breed of Shorthorns, is proving its popularity. Chris Mullinix of El Dorado, Kan., sorted the Junior Show, while Brett Barber of Channing, Texas evaluated the Open Show entries Nov. 15.

SULL PURE HOTTIE 7033ET, the Jan. 26, 2007 heifer owned by Nick Sullivan from Dunlap, Iowa, claimed Grand honor in the Open Show as well as Reserve honors in the Junior Show. SULL PURE HOTTIE 7033ET is sired by DF VEGAS 310M.

Justin Jenkins of Crandall, Texas, led his June 1, 2007 heifer, TCDR BEANS, to the Grand title in the Junior Show and Reserve Grand title in the Open Show. She is sired by SULL BROTHER JOE 11/16.

Nick Sullivan also led SULL BREATHLESS BABE 7411 to the Grand Bred & Owned title. This female is sired by CF SOLUTION X and was born November 10, 2007.

Grand ShorthornPlus Bull honors went to SULL BLUE ET. The February 22, 2007 bull was bred and owned by Sullivan Cattle Co of Dunlap, Iowa.

B Good Livestock, Creston, Iowa, South Starr Farm, Iva, SC, and Carolina Cattle Co, Central, SC are the owners of the Reserve Grand ShorthornPlus Bull, B GOOD RED WARRIOR 81T. Born September 3, 2007, he is sired by B GOOD SOLDIER 81P.
