National Purebred Shorthorn champions named at NAILE

Three hundred seventy-eight Purebred Shorthorn cattle walked the ring of the Freedom Hall during the North American International Livestock Exposition, held Nov. 17 as judge, Dan Hoge of Kewanee, Ill., and associate judge Jeremy Hahn, Gridley, Ill., evaluated 316 females and 62 bulls and selected the National Champions for 2008.

Charlee Teague of Ft Morgan, Colo., claimed the Grand Champion Female honors with MISS V8 MONA'S HIP HOP ET the Junior Division Champion Female. The April 30, 2007 born female was sired by WHR SONNY 8114 and the dam was K-KIM MONA LISA 34L.

SULL SOLUTIONS MARGIE ET, the February 27, 2007 heifer calf owned by Reece Klug from Columbus, Neb., claimed Reserve honors. SULL SOLUTIONS MARGIE ET is out of CF SOLUTION X and DFS MARGIE 6109 and was the Senior Female Champion.

Capturing the title in the bull show was SULL PRIMETIME ET sired by CF SOLUTION X and K-KIM MP MONA LISA 34P was the dam of the Junior Bull Calf Division Champion. The March 14, 2008 bull calf is owned by Sullivan Cattle Co., Dunlap, Iowa.

The Reserve bull was CYT PURE POWER 859U ET owned by Cyclone Trace Cattle Co. of Clarion, Iowa and Don Cagwin of Virginia, Ill. The January 5, 2008 bull is out of sire SULL GNCC PURE SOLUTION and dam AF SL MIRAGE 266 AR SU LU TONIC X and was the Junior Bull Calf Champion.
