Lawsuit accuses feed company of negligence

FARGO, N.D. (AP)--Two North Dakota ranchers are accusing a Colorado company of providing them with a liquid feed supplement that poisoned their cattle.

Lonnie and Todd McPeak of Sterling have filed a civil lawsuit in federal court against Cattleman's Choice Looomix. The Johnstown, Colo., business says it was not negligent and wants the lawsuit thrown out.

The complaint says a dealer for the company improperly mixed the feed mixture, stunting the growth of the cattle and resulting in the deaths of two cows and two calves. The lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.

The McPeaks say they could not sell the cattle because an auction house advised people not to buy the calves.

The feed company says any problems with the cattle were due to "misuse or abuse" of the product by the ranchers.
