Kansas

Llamas and alpacas will be the focus for the Second Annual Conference for Llama and Alpaca Owners at Kansas State University's College of Veterinary Medicine Dec. 5. Instruction for all levels of camelid management will include herd health, medicine, surgery, nutrition and reproduction topics.

The conference, in the K-State Student Union, runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Speakers will include College of Veterinary Medicine and animal science faculty David Anderson, Maria Ferrer, Meredyth Jones, Matt Miesner and Dan Linden.

"We are proud to offer the Second Annual K-State Camelid Owners and Breeders Conference. This conference offers wide-ranging state-of-the-art information for providing the best health care, nutrition and breeding strategies for llamas and alpacas," said Anderson, professor and section head of agricultural practices at the K-State College of Veterinary Medicine.

"This conference is an opportunity for experienced, new and prospective camelid owners to attend and receive the latest information," said Jones, clinical assistant professor of agricultural practices. "This conference offers a laid-back, relaxed atmosphere where audience questions and discussion are encouraged."
