K-State Farm and Ranch Day at Pratt Community College Jan. 6Kansas K-State Research and Extension, in cooperation with Pratt Community College, will be hosting "K-State Farm and Ranch Day" on the campus of Pratt Community College on Jan. 6, 2009. The conference format features a smorgasbord of topics that will be of interest to all persons involved with the agricultural industry. The variety of topics offered will allow conference-goers to select those that will be of particular interest to them and their business. The sessions include: a 2009 cattle marketing outlook, forage options for beef cattle, the current grain market situation and outlook, issues dealing with farm family transitions and successions, lease arrangements, update on precision agriculture, soil analysis and interpretation, and weed control with new herbicide updates. All sessions will be led by faculty of Kansas State University. The day will begin at 8:30 a.m., with registration and refreshments followed at 9 a.m., by a Farm Bill Update led by Troy Dumler, SW Area Extension Agricultural Economist. The breakout sessions will follow throughout the rest of the day. Lunch will be served on campus and is being co-sponsored by area businesses across south central Kansas. Registration for the conference is $10 per person before Dec. 17. After that date, the registration fee is $20 per person.
