Cattlemen's meeting to address production challenges

Kansas

Cattle producers are well aware that we are in uncertain economic times. This uncertainty has begun to reflect itself in volatile grain and livestock markets as well.

K-State Research and Extension-Graham County will help address these issues by hosting a Cattlemen's Meeting Dec. 15 at 6:30 p.m. This meeting will take place at the Graham County 4-H building in Hill City, Kan.

Featured speakers for this meeting include beef cattle experts Dr. Dale Blasi from Kansas State University, Dr. Craig Iwanski, owner of Central Veterinary Services and Dr. Sandy Johnson, livestock specialist with KSU's NW Research and Extension Center in Colby

Dr. Blasi will address economical feeding strategies in an era of high feed cost. Dr Iwanski will discuss calving management and will offer tips to help producers have more calves to sell after weaning time. Dr. Johnson will discuss the recently enacted country-of-origin labeling laws and what it means to cattle producers.

This meeting is free to the public but RSVP's are requested by Dec. 12. For more information or to RSVP, please call the Graham County Extension Office at 785-421-3411.
