First food business seminar of 2009 is Jan. 9

Nebraska

The Food Processing Center at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln has scheduled its first 2009 seminar for individuals interested in exploring the idea of starting a food manufacturing business for Jan. 9.

The center's one-day seminar, From Recipe to Reality, allows participants to become familiar with and understand all the aspects of starting a food business. The seminar is the first phase of the nationally recognized Food Entrepreneur Assistance Program.

"This seminar provides participants with basic information regarding the food industry and starting a food business. By attending, they can make an informed decision. Following the seminar for those that choose to start a business, individualized assistance is provided through the second phase of the program, From Product to Profit," said program manager Jill Gifford.

Since the program started in 1989 hundreds of individuals have used the one-day seminar and many have then started their own food manufacturing business.

For more information about the program contact Gifford at: Food Processing Center, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, 143 H.C. Filley Hall, Lincoln, NE 68583-0928, phone 402-472-2819, e-mail jgifford1@unl.edu, website: http://www.fpc.unl.edu.
