Agricultural awareness night set for Dec. 2 at SFCCMissouri The West Central Agriculturalists, a leadership organization of the State Fair Community College adult agricultural education program, and the USDA Farm Service agency will cosponsor an agricultural awareness event for area farmers at 6 p.m., Dec. 2 in the Heckart Center on the SFCC campus. The groups will provide information to help local producers make informed decisions about next year's farming season. A free dinner will be served in the Thompson Conference Center in the Heckart Center. Breakout discussion sessions will follow dinner. Topics will include the grain and livestock outlook for 2009, the 2008 farm bill, computers on the farm, precision agriculture, and country-of-origin labeling. Reservations are due by Nov. 24. The program is funded by a five-year $279,900 grant from the Missouri Agricultural and Small Business Development Authority to provide programming for farmers in Pettis, Benton, Johnson, and Henry counties.
