Texas A&M Poultry Judging Team wins fifth national championshipBrian Zbikowski takes individual first place overall Texas The Texas A&M University Poultry Judging Team won its fifth national championship in the National Collegiate Poultry Judging Contest. The event took place Nov. 10 and 11 at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. The Texas A&M team has won five of the past six contests. The team competed against nine other university teams in the two-day competition. In addition to Texas A&M, teams in the top five were second-place Penn State, followed in order by Kansas State University, the University of Arkansas and Louisiana State University. Other universities competing were Auburn University, Mississippi State University, North Carolina State University, West Virginia University and the University of Wisconsin at River Falls. Brian Zbikowski of Rockdale took individual first place overall as well as first place in Egg Production and Quality and fourth place in Breed Selection and Carcass Quality contests. Zbikowski's win as the high individual overall marks the fourth contest in a row that this honor has been won by a Texas A&M student. Mallori Williams of Refugio took individual second place overall and second place in Egg Production and Quality. The Texas A&M team won Egg Production and Quality and placed second in Breed Selection and Carcass Quality. Other winning team members were Joshua Garcia of La Vernia, and Jenna Moore of Adkins who placed third and fourth respectively in Egg Production and Quality. Nathan Fuchs of Cameron was the alternate. The team was coached by Dr. Jason Lee, Texas AgriLife Research poultry scientist.
