Professional organizations sign cooperative agreement

The American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, The American Society of Appraisers, and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors signed a Memorandum of Understanding at ASFMRA's 79th Annual Meeting held on Nov. 11 to 14 in San Antonio, Texas.

The agreement follows the confirmed commitment in July of 2008 to collaborate on areas of common interest to enhance business opportunity and professional development. Ron Seaman, ASA International President, Louis Armstrong, RICS Chief Executive, and ASFMRA Immediate Past President, Steve Runyan, ARA, signed the agreement. Also in attendance from RICS were Matt Bruck, RICS Americas, Managing Director, and John Ross, Senior Advisor, RICS Americas. The signing was witnessed by the 400 plus ASFMRA members and guests in attendance at the ASFMRA annual meeting. ASFMRA President Jerry Warner, AFM, presided over the signing.

"ASFMRA looks forward to working with RICS and continuing to grow our relationship with ASA. These two organizations have high standards and training expertise that are well aligned with our own strengths. We look forward to a strong relationship," said ASFMRA President Jerry Warner, AFM.

Most recently, the three organizations worked together to send a joint comment letter to the Securities and Exchange Commission regarding a draft report on improvements in financial reporting. Together ASA, ASFMRA and RICS represent more than 150,000 valuation professionals in 150 countries.
