Addition planned for state seed lab

POWELL, Wyo. (AP)--An estimated $283,500 project is in the works to add a seed-cleaning facility at the state seed analysis laboratory near Powell.

The Denny Smith Seed Analysis Laboratory is funded by the state of Wyoming and administered by the University of Wyoming.

It serves the needs of farmers, private and public seed buyers, the Wyoming Crop Improvement Association, the University of Wyoming and Wyoming Department of Agriculture researchers.

Preliminary planning and budgeting are complete for new building space of 2,400 square feet to house a seed-cleaning and treatment room and covered storage of 1,200 square feet.

Seed being sold in Wyoming must be tested and labeled according to Wyoming law.
