Wyobraska cattle sales reportThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska, and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending Aug. 2, showed receipts of 6,500 head, compared to 6,500 head last week and 5,050 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week at Wyoming auctions, feeder steers and heifers were not well tested. Demand was moderate. Direct trading was moderate. Comparable sales were steady to $1 higher. Buyer inquiry and demand was light to moderate for moderate offerings. Some interest was noted for fall contracting of cattle. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 68% of the supply, heifers 32%, with 79% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 6400 head of the total receipts. Steers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 330 lbs., 137.00. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 470 to 500 lbs., 126.00 to 130.00 October; 825 lbs., 113.25 September; 850 lbs., 112.50; 910 to 1015 lbs., 108.00 to 110.00. Delivered price, 830 lbs., 115.00. Heifers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 320 lbs., 118.00; 665 lbs., 108.50; 880 lbs., 101.50. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 550 lbs., 109.00 October; 800 to 860 lbs., 106.00 to 109.00 August-September; 895 lbs., 105.50; 925 lbs., 104.00 September.
