Tulia livestock sales reportThe Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,051 head Aug. 4, compared to 2,346 head last week and 2,386 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $2 to $4 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $1 higher. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 2% of the offering, replacement cows less than 1%, and feeders 97%. The feeder supply included 69% steers and 31% heifers, with nearly 68% of the run over 600 pounds. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 425 to 480 lbs., 120.00 to 124.50; 500 to 550 lbs., 108.00 to 117.50, 550 to 600 lbs., 109.00 to 121.50; 610 to 620 lbs., 113.50 to 115.50, 650 to 700 lbs., 115.00 to 118.00; 730 to 750 lbs., 114.00 to 114.75, load 793 lbs., 117.60; 800 to 850 lbs., 112.60 to 116.50; lot 1075 lbs., 93.00.
