Tulia livestock sales report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,051 head Aug. 4, compared to 2,346 head last week and 2,386 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $2 to $4 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $1 higher. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 2% of the offering, replacement cows less than 1%, and feeders 97%. The feeder supply included 69% steers and 31% heifers, with nearly 68% of the run over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 425 to 480 lbs., 120.00 to 124.50; 500 to 550 lbs., 108.00 to 117.50, 550 to 600 lbs., 109.00 to 121.50; 610 to 620 lbs., 113.50 to 115.50, 650 to 700 lbs., 115.00 to 118.00; 730 to 750 lbs., 114.00 to 114.75, load 793 lbs., 117.60; 800 to 850 lbs., 112.60 to 116.50; lot 1075 lbs., 93.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 430 to 470 lbs., 110.00 to 117.00; lot 790 lbs., 107.00; 875 to 900 lbs., 106.50 to 109.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, lot 353 lbs., 110.50; 430 to 500 lbs., 106.50 to 110.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 103.00 to 112.50; 625 to 640 lbs., 106.00 to 113.60; 700 to 730 lbs., 98.00 to 103.00, package 793 lbs., 96.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 495 lbs., 105.50; 500 to 525 lbs., 101.50 to 102.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 100.00 to 102.50; lot 743 lbs., 91.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 55.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 55.00 to 58.00; high dressing, 61.00 to 62.00; 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 56.00 to 59.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 59.00 to 61.00; 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 57.00 to 59.00; high dressing, 59.00 to 60.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 48.00 to 51.00; high dressing, 58.00 to 60.50; 85 to 90% lean, under 800 lbs., 51.00 to 52.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1690 lbs., 76.00; high dressing, 1835 to 2035 lbs., 80.00 to 81.00; low dressing, 1115 to 1440 lbs., 63.00 to 65.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, 720.00 to 860.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 950 to 1300 lbs., with 100- to 150-lb. calves, 760.00 to 1010.00 per pair.
