Springfield livestock sales

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,753 head July 16, compared to 1,313 head last week and 1,884 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers were steady to $2 lower, Holsteins were steady on a light test. Demand and supply were moderate. A special wean-vaccinated sale was held in conjunction with the regular feeder cattle sale. Direct fed cattle traded $2 to $3 lower at $96 to $97. The feeder supply included 37% steers, 5% Holsteins, 48% heifers, 10% bulls, with 53% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 475 to 500 lbs., 114.00 to 115.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 114.00 to 116.00, fleshy couple lots 105.50; 600 to 650 calves 112.00 to 116.50, 650 to 700 lbs., 112.00 to 115.00; lot 713 lbs., 114.00; 800 to 875 lbs., 100.00 to 108.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 325 lbs., 123.00 to 126.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 112.00 to 115.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 107.00 to 113.00, thin 111.00 to 114.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 105.00 to 114.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 102.00 to 111.00; package 828 lbs., 104.00.

Holsteins: Large frame 3, package 196 lbs., 72.00; package 259 lbs., 75.00; 400 to 500 lbs., few 71.00 to 78.00; package 559 lbs., 71.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 68.00 to 72.00; 775 to 800 lbs., 72.00 to 74.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 334 lbs., 107.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 103.00 to 108.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 96.00 to 108.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 97.00 to 106.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 93.00 to 102.00; 800 to 875 lbs., 86.00 to 95.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 325 to 400 lbs., 95.00 to 101.00, thin 104.00 to 105.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 97.00 to 104.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 93.00 to 105.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 94.00 to 101.50; 725 to 800 lbs., 85.00 to 98.00 lot 901 lbs., 83.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 450 to 500 lbs., 111.00 to 116.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 103.50 to 110.00; 625 to 700 lbs., calves 101.50 to 104.00.
