South Central direct sheep

The South Central Direct Sheep sales report for the week ending Aug. 1, totaled 1,100 feeder lambs and 50 slaughter meat goats, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder lambs were steady. There were no slaughter lambs, slaughter ewes or replacement ewes. Trading and demand were moderate. High feed costs and hot temperatures have slowed demand for feeders. Supplies are becoming limited.

Feeder lambs: Texas, 1100 head, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 65 to 90 lbs., 98.00 to 102.00.

Slaughter meat goats: Kids, Texas, 50 head, Selection 2, 50 lbs 70.00.
