Salina cattle sales report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 2,016 head July 24, compared to 1,961 head last week and 2,780 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers 550 to 850 pounds were firm to $2 higher, 850 to 1000 pounds were $1 to $3 higher. Heifers 600 to 900 pounds in a limited supply, were firm to $2 higher. Steers 550 pounds and heifers 600 pounds and under not enough for market test. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 96% 600 pounds and over, 3% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 54% steers and 46% heifers.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 600 to 650 lbs., 112.00 to 112.50 (112.32); 650 to 700 lbs., 109.50 to 112.50 (111.51); 750 to 800 lbs., 108.75 to 109.50 (109.04); 850 to 900 lbs., 105.50 to 107.75 (106.51). Medium and large frame 2, 600 to 650 lbs., 101.00 to 106.00 (103.16); 700 to 750 lbs., 104.25 to 107.00 (105.64); 750 to 800 lbs., 106.00 to 107.50 (106.84).
