Pratt livestock auction report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 3,605 head, July 24, compared 2,457 head, last week and 2,910 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers at 750 to 900 pounds were steady in a very limited supply, and 900 to 1000 pounds were firm to $1 higher. Heifers at 700 to 900 pounds were firm to $2 higher. Steers at 750 pounds and under and heifers at 700 pounds and under were not enough for a market test, and limited sales were steady. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady to weak, the bulk of the supply were mostly low dressing. Trade was active, demand was good. Receipts included 87% 600 pounds and over, 6% 600 pounds and under, 7% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply includes 43% steers and 53% heifers.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 75.00 to 76.00; low dressing, 62.50 to 72.50.
