OKC West livestock sales reportThe OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 4,453 head Aug. 6, compared to 5,229 head last week and 3,809 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, feeder steers uneven with steers over 800 pounds steady to $1 lower, under 800 pounds were steady to $1 higher. Feeder heifers were $1 to $2 higher. Demand remains good for feeder cattle as corn futures continue to tumble. Steer and heifer calves lightly tested and steady. Quality not as attractive as past few weeks with several crossbreds or fleshy and full cattle available. The supply included 76% over 600 pounds, 18% under 600 pounds, 6% cows and bulls. The total included 32% heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls were firm to $2 higher. Packer demand was very good. A total of 260 cows and bulls sold with 59% going to packers.
