North Arkansas livestock auction report

The North Arkansas Livestock Auction, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 702 head July 30, compared to 1,268 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to two weeks ago, slaughter cows were $3 to $5 higher. Slaughter bulls were $6 to $8 higher. Feeder steers under 500 pounds were $3 to $5 higher, over 500 pounds were uneven, generally steady to $1 higher. Feeder heifers mixed, generally steady. Feeder bulls were mostly steady to $1 higher, instances were $6 higher. The supply included about 355 feeder calves, 200 yearlings, 40 replacement or feeder cows, 97 slaughter cows, 8 slaughter bulls, 2 replacement bulls. The feeder supply included about 36% over 600 pounds, 22% steers, 1% Holsteins, 51% heifers, and 26% bulls.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 54.00 to 57.50; high dressing, 60.00 to 63.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 54.00 to 57.50; high dressing, 58.00 to 66.50; few 67.50 to 70.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 50.00 to 56.00; high dressing, 57.00 to 65.00; low dressing, 42.00 to 49.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 42.00 to 45.00; high dressing, 50.00 to 53.50; low dressing, 32.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 77.00 to 78.00; high dressing, 78.00 to 85.00; individual 91.00.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 413 to 448 lbs., 119.00 to 124.00 (121.07); 455 to 498 lbs., 111.00 to 120.00 (115.60); 502 to 520 lbs., 112.50 to 117.00 (113.43); 552 to 585 lbs., 107.50 to 117.00 (112.62); 600 to 645 lbs., 109.00 to 114.00 (110.76); 670 lbs., 110.50.
