New Extension agent hired for Dallam, Hartley counties

Texas

Megan Thompson will begin serving as the new Texas AgriLife Extension Service family and consumer sciences agent for Dallam and Hartley counties beginning Aug. 4, according to Dr. Galen Chandler, AgriLife Extension administrator at Amarillo.

Thompson, a native of Ft. Collins, Colo., worked in several management and child development operations in Colorado before making her move to Texas. She earned a bachelor's degree in sociology and education from the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley, Colo.

"My education and previous experience fit like pieces in a perfect puzzle with this new position," she said.

Chandler said it took 16 months to find the right person to fill the family and consumer science agent position in these two counties, and he is glad to welcome Thompson.

"She has lots of enthusiasm and proven innovativeness from previous jobs and seems to enjoy being involved in the community," Chandler said.

Thompson said her goal is to see what the needs are in the community and "be a strong advocate and leader to help meet those needs."
