Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Aug. 1, showed receipts of 1,801 head of sheep and goats, compared to 2,998 head last week and 1,500 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stock and feeder lambs were not tested. Light slaughter lambs were $10 to $15 lower, heavy weights were steady on a light test. Stock and feeder goats were steady. Slaughter goats were $10 to $15 lower. Demand was moderate. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 400 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 80 to 125 lbs., 30.00 to 50.00; pairs, few 34.00 per head. Barbados ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 18.00 to 30.00. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 350.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice, 90 to 100 lbs., 75.00 to 100.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 70.00 to 80.00, few to 84.00. Slaughter ewes, Utility 1 to 3, Medium fleshy, 90 to 130 lbs., 20.00 to 30.00. Slaughter bucks, 100 to 200 lbs., 30.00 to 45.00. Barbados lambs, 40 to 75 lbs., 70.00 to 75.00. Barbados ewes, few 60 to 90 lbs., 25.00 to 30.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 80.00 to 92.50, few to 95.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 80.00 to 93.50, few to 95.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 20.00 to 35.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 67.00 to 77.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 90 to 120 lbs., 74.00 to 80.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40- to 60-lb. fancy nannies 120.00 to 130.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 40.00 to 70.00. Selection 2, 80 to 130 lbs., 25.00 to 40.00. Pairs, 22.00 to 43.00 per head. Billies, Selection 1, 90 to 195 lbs., 112.00 to 245.00.

Stock and feeder goats: 25 to 45 lbs., 70.00 to 85.00, few to 90.00.
