Faith livestock sales report

The Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith, S.D., reported receipts of 591 head July 28, compared to 650 head two weeks ago, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

No recent feeder auction to trend sale, although a steady undertone was noted. Buyer attendance was moderate. Demand was good with the light supply. Slaughter cows and bulls sold mostly $3 to $4 lower when compared to two weeks ago. Demand was moderate to good. The supply consisted of 47% slaughter cows and bulls, 53% feeders. The feeder supply included 55% steers, 40% heifers, and 5% bulls, with 62% weighing over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 14 head, 772 lbs., 113.00; 8 head, 876 lbs., 112.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 16 head, 476 lbs., 124.50 thin; 38 head, 593 lbs., 118.75 thin; 859 to 865 lbs., 112.00 to 113.50 (113.35).

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 42 head, 507 lbs., 121.00; 63 head, 807 lbs., 109.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 364 lbs., 118.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 440 lbs., 115.00; 7 head, 611 lbs., 110.75 calves.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1340 to 1628 lbs., 59.75 to 62.75; low dressing, 57.00 to 59.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1030 to 1535 lbs., 59.00 to 64.00; low dressing, 55.00 to 59.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 910 to 1480 lbs., 55.25 to 60.00; high dressing, 61.00 to 66.00; low dressing, 51.25 to 55.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1057 to 2260 lbs., 73.00 to 78.00; high dressing, 79.00 to 84.00; low dressing, 65.50 to 71.75.
