FSA Announces program deadlines

Bill R. Fuller, State Executive Director of the Kansas Farm Service Agency July 23 reminds producers of important deadlines to participate in FSA programs.

Aug. 1 is the final date to request a farm reconstitution.

Aug. 15 is the acreage reporting deadline to certify 2008 spring seeded crops and CRP. NAP acreages must be certified by Aug. 15 or 15 days prior to the onset of harvest or grazing. Aug. 15 is also the final date to report NAP production for crop year 2007. Producers must report acreages to maintain eligibility for Price Support Programs, Noninsured Crop Assistance Program, Conservation Reserve Program, and Direct and Counter-Cyclical Program.

Sept. 1 is the application closing date to purchase NAP on 2009 aquaculture, barley, canola, Christmas trees, nursery crops, rye, spelts, triticale, turf grass sod, and wheat. Must purchase NAP on all 2009 noninsurable crops to be eligible for 2009 disaster programs.

Sept. 16 is the final date to pay buy-in fees to be eligible for 2008 supplemental disaster programs.

Sept. 16 the CRP emergency haying ends for approved counties.

Sept. 30 is the final date to signup for 2008 Direct and County-Cyclical Program .

Sept. 30 the CRP emergency grazing ends for approved counties.

Signup for the Crop Disaster Program quantity and quality losses for 2005-2007 crops is continuing. No signup deadline has been announced at this time.

Fuller also reminds producers that marketing assistance loans and loan deficiency payments are available on 2008-commodities. The CCC-633 EZ Page 1 must be completed before loosing beneficial interest in the commodity.

FSA accepts applications anytime for Farm Storage Facility Loans, Continuous CRP, Rural Youth Loans, Direct or Guaranteed Operating or Farm Ownership Loans, including Beginning Farmer and Socially Disadvantaged, and Beginning Farmer and SDA Down Payment Loans.

Producers are encouraged to purchase 2009 crop insurance and/or 2009 NAP coverage on all acreages in all counties on commodities planted and intended to be planted for harvest or grazing to remain eligible for 2009 disaster programs.

USDA Farm Service Agency has many programs that provide Kansas farmers and ranchers supplemental income to help with the many expenses of maintaining a crop or livestock operation.

Producers are also reminded that Aug. 1 is the final date to submit nominees for the county committee election.

To apply for FSA benefits or certify acreages, contact the Farm Service Agency at your local USDA Service Center located under U.S. Government in the phone directory. FSA programs information can be obtained on the web at www.fsa.usda.gov.
