Dalhart livestock sales report

The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,731 head July 31, compared to 1,494 head last week and 1,164 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were firm. Slaughter cows were $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady. Trade was active. Demand was moderate. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 250- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 21% of the offering, slaughter bulls 3%, replacement cows 9%, and feeders 67%. The feeder supply included 56% steers and 44% heifers, with nearly 46% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 200 to 300 lbs., 141.00 to 147.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 141.00 to 147.50, pre-conditioned 152.50 to 155.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 121.00 to 123.00, package 415 lbs., pre-conditioned 135.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 113.00 to 116.00, package 532 lbs., pre-conditioned 120.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 114.25 to 117.50, package 633 lb. calves 111.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 110.00 to 111.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 200 to 300 lbs., 136.00 to 137.50; few 300 to 400 lbs., 122.00 to 127.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 113.50 to 120.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 108.50 to 115.00, lot 566 lbs., yearlings 118.25; 600 to 700 lbs., 108.00 to 114.50; load 834 lbs., 109.00. Medium and large frame 2, two packages 525 to 528 lbs., 105.00 to 112.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 104.00 to 104.75.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 227 lbs., 147.50, 300 to 400 lbs., 115.00 to 119.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 109.00 to 110.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 104.00 to 104.50, pre-conditioned 112.00 to 112.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 104.00 to 107.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 300 to 400 lbs., 111.00 to 118.00; few 400 to 500 lbs., 103.00 to 108.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 102.00 to 108.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 101.00 to 104.50, package 620 lbs., thin 107.00, Medium and large frame 2, 200 to 300 lbs., 115.00 to 117.00; package 343 lbs., 103.00; package 564 lbs., 97.00; package 658 lbs., 95.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1300 to 1600 lbs., 59.00 to 61.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1400 lbs., 58.00 to 61.50; high dressing, 62.00 to 63.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 58.50 to 60.50; high dressing, 62.00 to 63.50; low dressing, 55.50 to 57.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 54.00 to 59.00; low dressing, 52.00 to 53.75.

Dairy Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1500 to 1800 lbs., 58.50 to 60.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1400 to 1700 lbs., 57.50 to 59.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1200 to 1500 lbs., 56.00 to 59.50; low dressing, 49.50 to 53.75.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1300 to 1700 lbs., 71.00 to 83.00; high dressing, 1800 to 2200 lbs., 84.00 to 87.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 900 to 1300 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, 730.00 to 810.00 per head; middle-aged, 900 to 1200 lbs., 7 to 9 months bred, 810.00 to 930.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package young to middle-aged, 1075 lbs., with 225-lb. calves, 1035.00 per pair.
