Amarillo livestock sales

The Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 484 head July 29, compared to 485 head last week and 896 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were not enough for an adequate market price trend comparison. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady on a very limited test. The bulk of the supply Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate to good. Slaughter cows made up 9% of the offering, slaughter bulls 2%, replacement cows 1% and feeders 88%. The feeder supply included 63% steers and 37% heifers, with nearly 81% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 281 lbs., 130.00; package 560 lbs., 105.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 286 lbs., 128.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 111.00 to 119.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 109.00 to 110.00, package 406 lbs., full 106.00; lbs., 601 lbs., full 105.00; 700 to 715 lbs., 100.00 to 105.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, package 387 lbs., 98.00. Small and medium frame 1, package 486 lbs., 103.50; package 588 lbs., 97.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, packages 477 lbs., 102.00 to 105.00; package 657 lbs., 101.00; 800 to 820 lbs., 89.00 to 92.50; package 907 lbs., 87.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 265 lbs., 133.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 104.00 to 106.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 260 lbs., 115.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 104.00 to 112.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 98.00 to 101.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 102.00 to 105.00; package 638 lb. calves 96.00; package 703 lbs., fleshy 103.00, 760 to 800 lbs., 103.50 to 104.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, package 329 lbs., 85.00; package 467 lbs., 88.00; package 639 lbs., 83.00. Small and medium frame 1, package 480 lbs., 96.00; package 609 lbs., 97.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1100 to 1600 lbs., 56.00 to 56.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 59.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 51.00 to 57.50; high dressing, 62.50; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 47.00 to 49.50; low dressing, 46.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1650 to 1750 lbs., 71.00 to 77.50; low dressing, 1160 lbs., 67.00.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle-aged to aged, 800 to 1000 lbs., 5 to 6 months bred, 485.00 to 570.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, aged, 900 lbs., with 200-lb. calves, 810.00 per pair. Small and medium frame 3 to 4, Longhorn, young 700 to 800 lbs., with 150- to 200-lb. calves, 610.00 to 620.00 per pair.
