Amarillo livestock salesThe Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 484 head July 29, compared to 485 head last week and 896 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were not enough for an adequate market price trend comparison. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady on a very limited test. The bulk of the supply Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate to good. Slaughter cows made up 9% of the offering, slaughter bulls 2%, replacement cows 1% and feeders 88%. The feeder supply included 63% steers and 37% heifers, with nearly 81% of the run weighed over 600 pounds. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 281 lbs., 130.00; package 560 lbs., 105.00.
