Tulia livestock sales reportThe Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,190 head Aug. 18, compared to 2,320 head last week and 1,729 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $2 to $5 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls were not enough for a market test. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk of the supply was Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls made up less than 1% of the offering, replacement cows less than 1%, and feeders 98%. The feeder supply included 53% steers, 45% heifers and 2% bulls, with nearly 69% of the run over 600 pounds. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 380 lbs., 130.00 to 131.00; package 439 lbs., 121.00; package 554 lbs., 117.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 107.50 to 111.00; 725 to 800 lbs., 113.50 to 114.00; 890 to 900 lbs., 108.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 399 lbs., 110.00; package 447 lbs., 110.00; 540 to 570 lbs., 113.00 to 114.00; lot 680 lbs., 103.00; lot 737 lbs., 109.50; lot 836 lbs., 104.50. Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, package 516 lbs., 100.00; lot 648 lbs., 98.50. Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, lot 391 lbs., 103.50; 425 to 470 lbs., 100.00 to 105.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 104.00 to 109.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 105.00 to 109.25; package 718 lbs., 107.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 525 to 600 lbs., 103.00 to 103.50; 600 to 675 lbs., 104.00 to 106.00; 740 to 775 lbs., 100.00 to 100.50; 870 to 880 lbs., 89.50 to 90.50. Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 50.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 54.00 to 60.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, under 800 lbs., 40.00 to 43.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1945 lbs., 72.50; low dressing, 1930 lbs., 61.00.
