Texhoma cattle sales

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 20 head Aug. 20, compared to 575 head last week and 850 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, there were very limited receipts due to heavy rainfall the past week. There were not enough of any one class to test trends. Demand was good for all classes.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 333 to 340 lbs., 133.00 to 148.00 (143.94); 3 head, 427 lbs., 131.00; 5 head, 492 lbs., 120.00 full; 9 head, 561 to 580 lbs., 117.50 to 119.00 (118.49) full; 47 head, 643 lbs., 119.00; 12 head, 988 lbs., 100.00. Medium and large frame 2, 48 head, 555 lbs., 120.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 26 head, 569 lbs., 111.75.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 3 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 59.00 to 61.50; high dressing, 64.00. Lean, 7 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 57.50 to 59.00; high dressing, 64.00; low dressing, 54.50. Light, 10 head, 85 to 90% lean, 750 to 1000 lbs., 47.00 to 47.50; very low 41.50 to 43.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 4 head, 1400 to 2200 lbs., 73.50 to 76.00; high dressing, 78.50; low dressing, 72.50.
