Springfield livestock salesThe Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,850 head Aug. 13, compared to 1,200 head last week and 1,169 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers under 500 pounds sold $2 to $4 higher. Heavier steers and all Holsteins traded steady to $2 higher. Heifers weighing under 600 pounds sold $2 to $4 higher with heavier weights steady. Cooler weather helped increase receipts and buyer interest. Demand was good and supply moderate. The feeder supply included 41% steers, 15% Holsteins, 34% heifers, 9% bulls, with 54% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 117.00 to 125.00, lot fancy 404 lbs., 128.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 114.00 to 119.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 113.00 to 118.50; 700 to 785 lbs., 112.00 to 117.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 108.00 to 109.00.
