Salina livestock sales report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,891 head Aug. 14, compared to 3,615 head last week, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers at 300 to 650 pounds had no comparison with last week, but a steady undertone was noted. Steers weighing 650 to 750 pounds were steady to $2 lower, mostly steady, and 750 to 800 pounds were steady to $1 higher, while those at 800 to 950 pounds were steady to $1 lower. Heifers weighing 500 to 750 pounds were $2 to $3 higher, and 750 to 1000 pounds were steady to $2 higher. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 91% 600 pounds and over, 8% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 64% steers and 36% heifers.
