Pratt livestock sales reportPratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 4,274 head Aug. 15, compared to 4,880 head, last week and 2,238 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, 350- to 600-pound steers and heifers were not tested, steers weighing 600 to 700 pounds were steady to $2 higher on a light test, 700 to 850 pounds were firm to $1 higher, 850 to 1050 pounds were steady to $2 lower, with the bulk of trade steady to $1 lower. Heifers weighing 600 to 700 pounds were steady to $2 higher on a light test and 700 to 900 pounds were steady. Slaughter cows were weak to $2 lower and slaughter bulls were steady. Trade was moderate and demand good. Receipts included 90% 600 pounds and over, 5% under 600 pounds and 5% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply consisted of 67% steers and 33% heifers.
