OKC West livestock sales reportThe OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 2,493 head Aug. 20, compared to 5,375 head last week and 3,384 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $1 to $2 lower. A very limited test on light calves showed they were steady to $3 higher with increased demand. Feeder demand was moderate. Heavy rains in the area were responsible for the light run. The immediate area received around 6 to 7 inches closing some roads. The feeder supply included 82% over 600 pounds and 44% heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls were mostly steady in a light test. The run included nearly 300 head of thin stock cows pasture exposed but not pregnancy tested, most returning to the farm. A total of 406 cows and bulls sold with 53% going to packers. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 450 to 500 lbs., 121.00 to 127.00; 500 to 560 lbs., 118.00 to 123.00; 600 to 660 lb. calves 105.00 to 112.50; 700 to 750 lbs., 115.00 to 115.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 112.00 to 114.75; 850 to 900 lbs., 107.75 to 111.25, several lots fleshy 103.50 to 106.50; few 900 to 925 lbs., 108.00 to 109.00. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 450 to 500 lbs., 108.00 to 108.50; 500 to 600 lbs., fleshy new crop 100.00 to 105.50; 650 to 700 lbs., 111.50 to 112.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 108.00 to 109.50; load 770 lbs., 108.25; 800 to 850 lbs., 106.00 to 106.50; package 965 lbs., 101.50. Lean, 144 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 54.50 to 58.00; high dressing, 60.75 to 63.00; low dressing, 50.00 to 54.00. Lights, 25 head, 80 to 90% lean, 850 to 1000 lbs., 43.00 to 45.00; high dressing, 46.00 to 52.00; low dressing, 33.00 to 35.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 4 head, 1200 to 2000 lbs., 77.50 to 81.50; low dressing, 62.00.
