Limousin Junior Nationals open with steers, B&Os, Lim-Flex

Junior Limousin exhibitors displayed the results of their personal breeding programs in the bred-and-owned shows at the National Junior Limousin Show and Congress July 15 in Sioux Falls, S.D. Judge Troy Thomas, Harrold, S.D., watched them parade 50 Limousin females and 20 Limousin bulls.

SSCL Tara, owned by Sean Schuler, Cleveland, Texas, earned grand champion bred-and-owned Limousin female honors. The March 10, 2007, daughter of GPFF Blaque Rulon first won Division 2. The reserve grand champion was MDRC T-Time 7105T, the Division 1 winner. Morgan Ratliff, Westphalia, Kan., owns the Sept. 14, 2007, daughter of EXLR Judo 459J.

In the bred-and-owned Limousin bull show, Thomas found the top two entries in divisions 2 and 1, respectively. EF Top Secret 327T--owned by Austen Etherton, Dawson, Ill., and William Frank, Mechanicsburg, Ill.--earned grand champion honors. He is a Feb. 21, 2007, son of GPFF Blaque Rulon. The reserve grand champion was SL Tradewind--a July 10, 2007, son of JKSM President 813P. Jordan Straight, Logan, Iowa, owns him.

Thomas sorted 48 head in the Lim-Flex female show. Ellie Sennett, Waynetown, Ind., won grand champion with Sennett Emblynette 723T, the Division 2 champion and a Feb. 1, 2007, daughter of S A V 004 Predominant 4438 out of Sennett Heather 448P. Reserve grand champion went to EXLR Scotch Cap 191S, the Division 3 champion. Corinne Harrison, Minier, Ill., owns the Oct. 2, 2006, daughter of LESF Asphalt 9N out of EXLR Scotch Cap 1005N.

From the bred-and-owned entries, Thomas selected EDBL Loaded Lil as the champion. Eric Birkner, Solgohachia, Ark., owns the Oct. 27, 2007, daughter of EXAR Lutton 1831 out of DVFC Dream Maker 105P. TLC Tinkerbell 16T--a Feb. 12, 2007, daughter of BOHI Roberto 88R out of TLC Peekaboo 41P--was the reserve champion bred-and-owned Lim-Flex female for Megan Ahrendsen, Sioux Rapids, Iowa.

There were two head in the first-ever NJLSC bred-and-owned Lim-Flex bull show. Sennett won with Sennett Lightning 799T--an Oct. 5, 2007, son of VUKR Wonder Bull 2 out of EXLR Eileen 755M. Reserve champion went to Birkner's EDBL Runnin Rebel--a Sept. 1, 2007, son of GPFF Blaque Rulon out of BOHI Rory 230R.

The steer show included six entries in the Prospect Division and 22 head in the Progress Division. Scott Edwards, Corder, Mo., won champion prospect steer with SEEE Trend Setter--an 860-pound; Sept. 1, 2007, halfblood son of SEEE Fancy 017P. Reserve prospect champion went to CJSL7186T--the 658-pound; Nov. 8, 2007, purebred son of MAGS Radcliff that Alissa Johnson, Ashton, Iowa, showed.

Amanda Lindsey, Spirit Lake, Iowa, had the champion progress steer in AMJO Thriller--a 1,290-pound; Feb. 24, 2007, seven-eighths son of Carrousels Nasdaq. Ratliff had the reserve champion with TUBB Hannibal 437T--a 1,070-pound; March 20, 2007, halfblood son of TUBB Judo 437P.
