Joplin regional cattle sales reportThe Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 4,711 head Aug. 18, compared to 3,500 head last week and 3,609 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers under 500 pounds were steady to $2 higher, 500 to 700 pounds were steady, over 700 pounds were steady to $2 lower, and heifers were steady. Demand and supply were moderate. The bulk of the offering was yearlings or weaned calves. The feeder supply included 45% steers, 45% heifers, 9% bulls, with 59% over 600 pounds.
