Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, reported receipts of 1,930 head of sheep and goats Aug. 15, compared to 1,800 head last week and 1,845 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stock and feeder lambs were not tested. Light slaughter lambs were $5 to $10 higher, heavy weights were $5 to $7 higher. Stock and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were $15 to $20 higher. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 250 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper pairs, 35.00 per head. Dorper bucks, 100.00 to 135.00 per head. Barbados ewes, few 60 to 95 lbs., 35.00 to 40.00. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 575.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 90 to 120 lbs., 90.00 to 100.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 105.00 to 114.00. Barbados, Lambs, 40 to 75 lbs., 90.00 to 108.00; ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 44.00 to 48.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 110.00 to 123.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 110.00 to 124.00. Selection 2, 60 to 80 lbs., 90.00 to 105.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 30.00 to 46.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 70.00 to 88.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 80 to 110 lbs., 90.00 to 110.00.

Replacement goats: Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 50.00 to 75.00. Selection 2, 80 to 130 lbs., 30.00 to 50.00.

Pairs: 32.00 to 42.00 per head. Billies, Selection 1, 125 to 210 lbs., 95.00 to 135.00.
