Georgia cattle sales summaryThe summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending Aug. 15 showed receipts of 12,797 head, compared to 11,198 head last week and 12,199 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga. Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows and bulls were mostly steady. Feeder steers were $1 to $2 higher and heifers were $1 to $4 higher. Steer calves were $2 to $3 higher and heifer calves were $1 to $2 higher. Replacement cows were mostly steady. The offering included 10% steers under 600 pounds, 35% steers under 600 pounds, 5% heifers over 600 pounds, 26% heifers under 600 pounds, 7% feeder cows, 15% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
