Angus champions named at 2008 Missouri State Fair

Exhibitors led 224 entries at the 2008 Missouri State Fair Open Angus Show, Aug. 8 in Sedalia, Mo. Don Boggs, Manhattan, Kan., evaluated the 172 females, 48 bulls and four cow-calf pairs before selecting champions.

SydGen Turbo 6684 claimed grand champion and senior champion bull honors. Sydenstricker Genetics Inc., Mexico, Mo.; and R & K Angus Farm, Armstrong, Mo., own the September 2006 son of S A F Directive.

Fox Run Farms LLC, Mexico, Mo.; Circle J Farm, Salyersville, Ky.; and Green Oaks Farm, Mize, Ky., led the reserve grand champion bull. Fox Run 878 - 6193 is an October 2006 son of Bon View New Design 878. He earlier won reserve senior champion.

Thomas Lucy 7360 captured grand champion female for Cameron Ward, Plattsburg, Mo. The February 2007 daughter of S A V 8180 Traveler 004 first won junior champion.

Jera Pipkin, Republic, Mo., showed the reserve grand champion female. Clearwater Pride 2127 is an October 2007 daughter of Connealy Power One and first won senior calf champion.

SCC Lucy 6217 was named grand champion cow-calf pair. Caleb Sayre, Stotts City, Mo., owns the January 2006 daughter of TC Total 410. A March 2008 heifer calf sired by Boyd Next Day 6010 completes the winning pair.

Brice Shamberger, Graham, Mo., showed the reserve grand champion cow-calf pair. Byergo Miss Elia is a January 2006 daughter of Summitcrest Absolut. A January 2008 heifer calf sired by Rito 2 878 of 2536 BVND 878 completes the pair.
