Amarillo livestock salesThe Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 383 head Aug. 19, compared to 1,010 head last week and 1,220 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were not enough for an adequate market price trend comparison. Limited receipts this week were due to scattered showers, and in some cases flooding, around the area that hampered producers from getting cattle out of fields. Slaughter cows and bulls were too few for a price trend comparison. The bulk of the supply was Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate to good. Slaughter cows made up 1% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, replacement cows 2% and feeders 96%. The feeder supply included 25% steers and bulls and 75% heifers, with nearly 41% of the run over 600 pounds. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 399 lbs., 119.00; package 451 lbs., 116.00. Medium and large frame 2, 600 to 615 lbs., 104.00 to 109.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, package 670 lbs., 89.00; two packages 725 lbs., 88.00 to 90.00. Small and medium frame 3 to 4, package 665 lbs., 40.00. Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 586 lbs., 101.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 96.00 to 99.00. Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 350 to 400 lbs., 101.00 to 108.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 105.00 to 106.00; lot 649 lbs., 105.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 292 lbs., 122.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 100.00 to 107.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 100.00 to 108.00. Medium and large frame 2, package 731 lbs., 98.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, package 401 lbs., 99.00; 600 to 650 lbs., fleshy 85.50 to 87.00; package 795 lbs., fleshy 84.50. Small and medium frame 2 to 3, lot 633 lbs., fleshy 70.50.
