West Plains regional livestock sales reportThe Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 4,200 head, Aug. 12, compared to 1,523 head last week and 3,950 head, last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers and heifers were $1 to $3 higher, instances were $3 to $4 higher on some weaned calves and 6 to 7 weight yearlings. Supply was moderate, with a higher percentage of yearlings on hand, topped off with 8 loads of back-grounded 665- to 745-pound grass heifers all carrying one brand. Demand was good on most all classes. The supply consisted of 43% steers and bulls, 57% heifers, with nearly 66% over 600 pounds.
