Tulia livestock sales report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,320 head Aug. 11, compared to 2,051 head last week and 2,000 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $1 lower. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk of the supply was Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 4% of the offering, replacement cows less than 1%, and feeders 95%. The feeder supply included 52% steers, 47% heifers and 1% bulls, with nearly 54% of the run over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 356 lbs., 131.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 119.00 to 127.00, 450 to 475 lbs., 114.00 to 120.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 113.00 to 120.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 108.00 to 118.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 110.50 to 116.25; 800 to 850 lbs., 110.50 to 112.75, package 809 lbs., full 101.00; load 909 lbs., 105.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 375 lbs., 108.00 to 110.00; package 443 lbs., 110.00, package 471 lbs., 105.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 103.00 to 108.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 105.00 to 108.50, lot 660 lbs., 109.50; lot 720 lbs., 111.00, package 797 lbs., 107.50; 875 to 900 lbs., 97.00 to 97.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, package 585 lbs., 102.50; lot 618 lbs., 106.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 307 lbs., 106.00, 370 to 390 lbs., 108.00 to 114.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 103.00 to 112.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 106.00 to 115.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 105.00 to 108.00; lot 712 lbs., 108.50; package 854 lbs., 102.50; package 906 lbs., 91.00. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 58.00 to 60.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 54.00 to 58.00; high dressing, 59.50 to 61.75; 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 55.00 to 59.00; high dressing, 57.50 to 60.00; low dressing, 53.00 to 55.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 52.50 to 55.00; high dressing, 56.50 to 57.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 45.00 to 49.00; high dressing, 52.00 to 55.00; 85 to 90% lean, under 800 lbs., 47.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1520 to 2010 lbs., 72.50 to 75.50; high dressing, 1850 to 2065 lbs., 78.50 to 80.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1380 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, 810.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1500 lbs., with 200- lb. calves, 950.00 per pair.
