Springfield cattle sales report

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,200 head Aug. 6, compared to 1,400 head last week and 1,514 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers traded steady to firm. Holsteins sold $2 to $4 higher. Several packages of value added cattle included in the offering. Demand was moderate to good, supply was moderate to light due to hot weather. The feeder supply included 40% steers, 16% Holsteins, 37% heifers, 7% bulls, with 63% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 440 to 500 lbs., 115.50 to 118.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 111.00 to 119.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 112.00 to 115.00, value added 115.50 to 118.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 109.50 to 114.00; lot 835 lbs., 109.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 to 600 lbs., 110.00 to 117.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 110.00 to 114.00; lot 920 lbs., 98.50. Large frame 2, 640 to 785 lbs., 104.00 to 109.00.

Holsteins: Large frame 3, 400 to 550 lbs., 74.00 to 80.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 70.00 to 80.00; 730 to 930 lbs., 75.00 to 78.00; load 961 lbs., 75.25.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 102.00 to 104.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 101.00 to 105.00, value added 106.00 to 109.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 101.50 to 104.50, value added 641 lbs., 108.00; 760 to 770 lbs., and value added 104.50 to 105.50; lot 824 lbs., 97.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 100.00 to 103.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 97.00 to 103.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 95.00 to 102.50; lot 730 lbs., 91.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 430 to 525 lbs., 111.00 to 116.00; 530 to 675 lbs., 102.50 to 108.00; 670 to 710 lbs., 96.50 to 98.50.
