Salina cattle sales reportThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,615 head Aug. 6, compared to 3,323 head last week and 4,229 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, steers weighing 400 to 600 pounds showed no comparison with last week, but a steady undertone was noted. Steers at 600 to 900 pounds were $1 to $3 higher, and 900 to 1000 pounds were $1 to $2 higher. Heifers at 500 to 700 pounds were steady to $3 higher, and 700 to 950 pounds were $1 to $2 higher. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 97% 600 pounds and over, 2% 600 pounds and under; 1% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 83% steers and 17% heifers.
