Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 4,880 head, Aug. 7, compared to 2,080 head, last week and 4,097 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers at 300 to 750 pounds were not comparable to sales last week, but a steady undertone was noted, and those at 750 to 1000 pounds were steady to $3 higher with the bulk of trade $1 to $3 higher. Heifers at 350 to 600 pounds were not comparable to sales last week, but a steady undertone was noted, and those weighing 600 to 1000 pounds were steady to $3 higher with bulk of trade $1 to $2 higher. Slaughter cows were steady to $1 higher and slaughter bulls were steady. Trade was active the demand was good. Receipts included 83% 600 pounds and over, 13% under 600 pounds and 4% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply consisted of 6% steers and 33% heifers.
