North Arkansas livestock sales reportThe North Arkansas Livestock Auction, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 1,104 head Aug. 13, compared to 500 head last week and 709 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service-USDA Market New, Little Rock, Ark. Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls were $2 to $3 lower. Feeder steers were steady to $4 higher. Feeder heifers 350 to 400 pounds were $9 higher, over 400 pounds were $2 to $5 higher. The supply included about 472 feeder calves, 454 yearlings, 50 replacement or feeder cows, 106 slaughter cows, 20 slaughter bulls, 2 replacement bulls. The feeder supply included about 49% over 600 pounds, 39% steers, 6% Holsteins, 42% heifers, and 13% bulls. Prices follow with weighted average price in parenthesis. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 52.00 to 55.00; high dressing, 55.00 to 58.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 50.00 to 56.00; high dressing, 56.00 to 63.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 49.00 to 54.00; high dressing, 54.00 to 61.50; low dressing, 40.00 to 47.00.
