Joplin regional cattle sales

The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 3,500 head Aug. 11, compared to 3,992 head last week and 4,171 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers sold steady to $2 higher. Demand was good and supply moderate. Quality of both calves and yearlings were good. The supply included 48% steers, 45% heifers, 7% bulls, with 54% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 325 to 400 lbs., 131.00 to 139.50; 400 to 500 lbs., 116.00 to 122.00, fancy 127.50 to 128.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 116.00 to 122.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 114.50 to 119.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 108.50 to 113.25, lot 712 lbs., and fancy 117.00 800 to 900 lbs., 108.50 to 112.75; 900 to 1012 lbs., 104.75 to 110.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 114.00 to 118.50, lot thin 121.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 110.00 to 116.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 106.50 to 115.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 107.00 to 114.75; lot 1005 lbs., 102.00. Large frame 1, 470 to 725 lbs., 106.00 to 113.00; 700 to 840 lbs., 101.50 to 106.50.

Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, no sales.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 370 to 500 lbs., 106.00 to 112.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 106.00 to 112.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 102.50 to 106.50, fancy 109.00 to 109.75; 700 to 800 lbs., 102.00 to 107.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 102.00 to 115.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 99.00 to 107.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 102.00 to 106.50, thin 108.00 to 110.75; 600 to 700 lbs., 101.00 to 107.00; 700 to 740 lbs., 94.00 to 104.00. Large frame 1, 500 to 640 lbs., 100.00 to 105.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 330 to 400 lbs., 120.00 to 127.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 112.00 to 117.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 105.00 to 112.00; 600 to 750 lbs., 101.00 to 104.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 450 to 570 lbs., 102.00 to 115.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 102.00 to 107.50.
