Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Aug. 8, reported 1,800 head of sheep and goats, compared to 1,801 head last week and 1,928 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

This was a special Dorper buck and ewe sale. Compared to last week, stock and feeder lambs were not tested. Light slaughter lambs were $10 to $15 higher, heavy weights were not tested. Stock and feeder goats were not tested. Slaughter goats were $10 to $15 higher. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 250 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 80 to 130 lbs., 85.00 to 210.00 per head. Pairs, 30.00 to 40.00 per head. Dorper bucks, 400.00 to 725.00 per head. Barbados ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 30.00 to 40.00.

Slaughter lambs: Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 95.00 to 108.00. Good, 40 to 85 lbs., 85.00 to 95.00.

Slaughter bucks: 100 to 200 lbs., 30.00 to 45.00. Barbados, ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 30.00 to 40.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 95.00 to 111.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 95.00 to 105.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 85.00 to 95.00, 60 to 80 lbs., 85.00 to 95.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 30.00 to 45.00, thin 20.00 to 30.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 65.00 to 78.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, 50 to 70 lb. fancy nannies 140.00 to 150.00 per head. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 40.00 to 70.00. Selection 2, 80 to 130 lbs., 25.00 to 40.00.
